Coronavirus Update - CEO

Coronavirus Update
from Sherburn House Charity CEO

My colleagues and I are doing everything in our power to support the health and wellbeing of customers, residents, staff and volunteers during these unprecedented times.
I am pleased to report that at this time we have had no cases of Coronavirus in any of our services, nor have we had contact with anyone with the virus, but we are taking precautionary measures to minimise the risk of infection to people living and working with us.
As of today, we have introduced measures to limit footfall in our care home in order to minimise the risk to vulnerable residents and our front line colleagues, therefore, with the exception of some health care professionals and other’s providing essential services, visitors to the home are now strictly limited and by appointment only. Those who are allowed on site must comply with stringent infection control protocols. This decision was not taken lightly, and we all understand how difficult this will be for families and residents, but I hope you will support us in this decision in order to protect your loved ones who live here.
As the situation unfolds, we will be closely monitoring the changing landscape, ensuring we stay abreast of current updates and advice from national government and the NHS.
This is unchartered territory for all of us. Coronavirus –(Covid19) is a new highly infectious virus that the world has never seen the likes of before, therefore, my approach is to err on the side of caution and I will take all measures that my team and I feel are necessary to protect the health and wellbeing of all our beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Our actions may seem excessive to some; however, my main objective is to keep people safe. Please bear with us over the next few weeks as we learn more about the situation and adapt to live with the limitations and impact of this pandemic.
Ramsey House administrative staff are still office based as we have the capacity to work in isolation from each other, this means that at this time we can still be contacted by e-mail or telephone, however, no visitors are allowed on site without a prior appointment. If you need to speak to someone regarding administrative issues, please call us first 0191 3722551.
We will continue to communicate with staff, residents and families as things change, thank you for your patience and understanding at this difficult time.

Wishing you all safe keeping

Pauline Bishop
Chief Executive
